Equipment

TeamTiger does not provide lacrosse equipment for players on our summer teams, attending our lacrosse camps/tournaments or for lacrosse training. Here is the complete list of equipment needed to participate on our summer lacrosse teams or while attending our summer camp. Our trainers will advise on the equipment needed while training.

LACROSSE STICK (REQUIRED)

The Lacrosse Stick is made of synthetic material, with a shaped net pocket at the end. The stick must be an overall length of no less than 40″ inches (35″ for 3rd grade and younger).  The pocket shall be deemed illegal if the top surface of a lacrosse ball, when placed in the head of the stick, is below the bottom edge of the side wall. In 5th grade, defensman can begin using a 60″ “long pole.” No need to spend big bucks on shafts at this age. We do not recommend moving to a 72″ pole without the recommendation of your coach — usually around 7th or 8th grade depending on players physical size and ability.

For K-2 Grade (and probably for older kids as well) buying a $30-$50 lacrosse stick at Sports Authority, Dick’s, etc. is perfectly fine.

HELMET (REQUIRED)

Helmet – equipped with face mask, chin pad and a cupped four point chin strap fastened to all four hookups, must be worn by all boy players.

GLOVES (REQUIRED)

Gloves – All players are required to wear protective gloves. The cutting or altering of gloves is prohibited.

ARM PADS (REQUIRED*)

All players must wear lacrosse-specific arm pads.

* High School Goalies are typically allowed to play without arm pads

SHOULDER PADS (REQUIRED*)

All players must wear shoulder pads.

* Youth lacrosse players are required to wear both the shoulder pad AND the upper arm protection (training wheels). Refs will not allow youth players that remove the upper arm protection from their shoulder pads to play.

ATHLETIC SUPPORTER & CUP (REQUIRED)

All players must wear athletic supporters with protective cup.

MOUTHPIECE (REQUIRED)

A Mouthpiece is mandatory. They help prevent both head and dental injuries and must be properly used at all times. They are not meant to be chewed on. You will not be able to participate in games or practices without one.

CLEATS (REQUIRED)

To play competitive lacrosse, appropriate footwear is required. Lacrosse or Football-specific cleats are the preferred choice. Soccer cleats can also be worn. All cleats must feature a plastic/rubber molded bottom. No metal spikes or screw-ins are allowed. Occasionally our summer teams may play on older artificial turf that would require basketball-type footwear. Our coaches will notify players if this is the case.

CHEST PROTECTOR (REQUIRED FOR GOALTENDER)

The goalkeeper is required to wear a chest protector.

THROAT GUARD (REQUIRED FOR GOALTENDER)

The goalkeeper is required to wear a throat protector.
